Q.

Should I get a colonoscopy just to test for microscopic colitis?

I am 27, male, and have most the symptoms of Microscopic Colitis. My doctor told me I needed to get a colonoscopy done to make sure. I keep reading all over the internet how I should avoid these at all cost because of all the negative side effects. A few documents have even gone as far as to say the risk of all the side effects and the treatments to those is almost as great as dieing from colon cancer.

If this is really the case is it even worth getting checked out?

Thanks for any comments!
